The 2022 Kia Stinger is a lot of things — daring, bold, exciting, powerful, and breathtaking just to name a few. Thanks to testing from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, you can add another thing to that list: 2021 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ winner.

IIHS named the new 2022 Kia Stinger a TOP SAFETY PICK+ in July, honoring the sporty sedan with its highest honor. This makes the Stinger the second Kia to earn the 2021 IIHS TSP+, joining 2021 K5 models built after November 2020.

In order to win the TOP SAFETY PICK+, the 2022 Kia Stinger had to earn scores of “good” in all six crashworthiness tests. It also earned a “superior” rating for vehicle-to-vehicle crash prevention and an “advanced” rating for vehicle-to-pedestrian crash prevention thanks to standard Forward Collision Avoidance Assist.

To earn the extra + mark, a vehicle must earn scores of “good” or “acceptable” for all headlight options. With the addition of new standard LED headlights, the 2022 Stinger improves over the previous model year.

“The Stinger fundamentally changed the way consumers viewed the Kia brand,” said Sean Yoon, president and CEO of Kia North America, Kia America. “This latest Top Safety Pick Plus rating from IIHS validates Kia’s relentless pursuit of improvement and advancement, and perfectly complement the Stinger’s highly regarded performance capabilities.”

Other big updates to the 2022 Kia Stinger include the newly available 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, more power from the mighty twin-turbocharged V6, and more standard safety features through Kia Drive Wise.

Six other Kia vehicles have also won the 2021 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK, including the 2021 Soul, Seltos, and Telluride.

Safety, style, and strength — the 2022 Kia Stinger serves it all. Get your heaping helping of awesome when you visit Gossett Kia South in Memphis, Tennessee, and experience the new 2022 Kia Stinger firsthand.
