The New Year and the new Kia Sorento SUV were a perfect combination at the 2021 ball drop in New York City’s Times Square.
At the beginning of December, the 2021 Sorento left Kia Motors America headquarters in California and headed out on a cross-country trek. The new Sorento wasn’t traveling alone — it was towing a trailer carrying the “2021” numerals that TV viewers would eventually see atop One Times Square as part of the famed annual New Year’s Eve ceremony.
The Sorento’s coast-to-coast road trip took it through 14 states, and the itinerary included multiple stops at Kia dealerships along the way. A National Geographic photo and video crew was on hand to capture inspiring — and socially distanced — moments and personalities from the journey.
Even after the Sorento arrived in New York City, Kia’s role in the celebration continued. The automaker hosted a group of frontline workers and their families at the New Year’s Eve Times Square bash as a way to say thank you for all their efforts during the pandemic.
For 2021, the Sorento features a bold new design, boosted power and off-road capability, a roomier interior, and more advanced technologies than ever. This three-row SUV is available now at dealerships across the country — including Gossett Kia South here in Memphis, Tennessee.
