Kia is making sure that minivans aren’t what they used to be. The Korean carmaker recently revealed the new Kia minivan, which isn’t really a minivan at all. The 2022 Kia Carnival is a new Multi-Purpose Vehicle that raises the bar for the traditional family hauler.
The new Kia MPV is replacing the outgoing Kia Sedona minivan. It transcends the minivan segment, offering an SUV-liked design that is boxy, yet modern. The Carnival is also the first-ever vehicle to be sold in the US with Kia’s new logo.
On the inside, the Carnival can seat seven or eight passengers across its three rows. It comes with best-in-class cargo room and best-in-class passenger room, which means you get the best of both worlds. Flexing your cabin to be whatever you need it to be in a second is simple when you’re behind the wheel of the Carnival.
A 3.5-liter V6 engine powers the Carnival, pumping out a best-in-class 290 horsepower. When you head out for a weekend adventure with your family, this MPV can even tow up to 3,500 pounds – that means you don’t have to leave your boat or trailer behind.
The Carnival will also come standard with a range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems to increase your confidence and awareness out on the road. The 2022 Carnival MPV is expected to go on sale in the second quarter of this year. It will be offered in four trim levels — LX, EX, SX, and SX-Prestige — so you can find the right option for your family’s needs. When that time comes, see it at Gossett Kia South in Memphis
